Making Tal(Korean Traditional Mask) – 전통 탈 만들기

안녕하세요, 이번 주에는 한국의 전통 탈을 만들었어요!

탈은 보통 사람들의 삶이 담겨 있는 한국의 전통 가면이에요.
탈을 쓰고 하지 못했던 말을 하기도 하고, 마을에 좋은 기운을 부르기도 했어요.

우리는 먼저 탈의 역사와 다양한 모양을 공부했어요. 그리고 탈을 쓰고 추는 춤인 탈춤 영상도 봤어요.

탈을 꾸미기 전에는 나만의 탈을 스케치하는 시간을 가졌어요.
서로의 개성이 드러나는 탈의 디자인을 만들고 의미도 담아 봤어요!
친구들의 아이디어가 다양해서 듣는 게 정말 재미있었어요.

이제 본격적으로 나만의 탈을 꾸밀 시간이에요!
하회탈과 각시탈 중 하나를 골라서 열심히 한지를 붙였어요.

만들면서 속눈썹도 붙이고, 마리카락도 만드는 등 특별한 아이디어가 나왔어요. 😆
너무 재미있어서 쉬는 시간도 잊어버리고 열심히 탈을 만들었어요!


다 만든 후에는 멋진 배경 앞에서 다같이 사진을 찍었어요!
한국의 새로운 문화도 공부하고, 멋진 탈도 만드는 시간이었어요.

Hello! This week, we made traditional Korean masks!

‘Tal’ is traditional Korean mask that reflect the lives of ordinary people. People wore these masks to express things they couldn’t usually say and to bring good energy to their villages.

First, we learned about the history of Tal and explored their different shapes. Then, we watched a video of Tal-chum, a traditional mask dance.

Before decorating, we took some time to sketch our own unique mask designs. Everyone created masks that showed their individuality and included special meanings. It was really fun listening to everyone’s creative ideas!

Then it was time to start decorating our masks. We chose either a Hahoe mask or a Gaksi mask and carefully applied hanji (traditional Korean paper). While making them, some students added eyelashes or even created hair—there were so many fun and unique ideas! 😆

We were having so much fun that we even forgot about break time and kept working on our masks!
After finishing, we all took photos together in front of a beautiful backdrop.

It was a great time learning about Korean culture and creating our own amazing masks.

Hangang Park Picnic – 한강공원 소풍

안녕하세요! 오늘은 여의도 한강공원으로 소풍을 다녀왔어요. 어제 밤부터 오늘 아침까지 비가 많이 내려서 혹시 소풍을 가지 못할까 봐 걱정을 많이 했는데, 다행히 오전 중에 비가 그치고 바람도 잔잔해져서 기분 좋게 나설 수 있었습니다.

우리는 지하철을 타고 갔어요. 홍대입구역에서 공항철도를 타고 한 정거장 지난 공덕역에서 내린 후 5호선으로 갈아타고 두 정거장 지나서 여의나루역에서 내렸어요. 여의나루역에 도착한 다음 가장 먼저 한 일은 함께 기념사진을 찍으며 오늘의 추억을 기록하는 것이었어요. 지하철 역 앞에서도 한 장 찰칵! 그리고 서울시 마스코트인 ‘해치’와도 함께 찰칵!!

한강에서 라면을 먹으려고 점심에 삼각김밥 하나만 먹었거든요. 그래서 배가 좀 고팠어요. 그랬더니 야외에서 먹는 ‘한강 라면’은 역시 별미더군요. 용감한 친구는 아주아주아주 매운 라면을 골랐어요. 으아아아! 어떡해!!! 진짜 먹었어요!!!

라면을 먹고 난 뒤에는 강변을 따라 천천히 산책을 즐겼습니다. 적당한 곳에 돗자리를 펴고 앉아 다 같이 공기놀이와 우노 게임을 하며 시간 가는 줄 모르고 즐거운 시간을 보냈습니다.

날씨가 조금만 더 화창했다면 자전거도 타고 더 신나게 놀 수 있었겠지만, 아쉬움보다는 좋은 친구들과 함께 웃고 떠들 수 있어 충분히 행복했습니다. 비가 그친 뒤의 선선한 공기와 소중한 사람들이 함께한 덕분에 참 기분 좋은 하루였습니다.

Picnic at Yeouido Hangang Park

Hello! Today, we went on a picnic to Yeouido Hangang Park. It had been raining heavily since last night until this morning, so we were quite worried we might have to cancel. Fortunately, the rain stopped by mid-morning and the wind died down, so we were able to set out in high spirits.

We traveled by subway. From Hongik University Station, we took the Airport Railroad for one stop to Gongdeok Station, then transferred to Line 5 and went two more stops to arrive at Yeouinaru Station. The first thing we did upon arrival was take commemorative photos to capture today’s memories. We took a quick snap in front of the station, and of course, another one with ‘Haechi,’ the mascot of Seoul!

We had only eaten a single triangle kimbap (samgak-gimbap) for lunch because we were planning on having ramen at the Han River, so we were pretty hungry. As expected, ‘Hangang Ramen’ eaten outdoors was a real treat! One of our brave friends even chose an incredibly spicy ramen. Yikes! Oh my goodness! I couldn’t believe she actually finished the whole thing!

After our meal, we enjoyed a leisurely stroll along the riverside. We eventually found a nice spot to spread out our mat and spent a wonderful time playing Gonggi (a traditional Korean pebble game) and Uno, completely losing track of time.

If the weather had been a bit clearer, it would have been even more exciting to ride bicycles, but we were happy enough just to laugh and chat with such great friends. Thanks to the crisp, cool air after the rain and the company of wonderful people, it was a truly pleasant day.

Making Korean Traditional Mask – 전통 탈 만들기

안녕하세요! 오늘은 한국의 전통 탈을 만들었어요.

한국에서는 ‘탈’을 쓰면 힘이 생긴다고 믿었고, 나쁜 기운을 쫓아내 좋은 기운을 불러온다고 했습니다.

다양한 탈의 종류가 있고 이 탈들은 신분을 나타냈어요. 그리고 탈을 쓰고 높은 신분을 가진 사람들을 풍자하기도 했답니다.

이제 나만의 탈을 만들어 볼까요? 한국의 전통 종이 ‘한지’를 사용해서 탈을 만들어 봤어요.

한지를 손으로 작게 찢고 물풀을 사용해서 탈에 붙여요. 그리고 색연필과 사인펜으로 더 꾸미면 완성이에요!

나만의 개성 넘치는 탈을 완성하고 다 같이 한국의 전통 탈춤을 영상으로 봤어요!

영상을 본 후에 내가 만든 전통 탈을 쓰고 전통 탈춤을 춰 봤어요. 정말 재미있었어요!

Hello! Today, we made traditional Korean masks.

In Korea, people believed that wearing a mask could give us power and drive away bad energy while bringing in good energy. There are many different types of masks, and they often represented social status. People also used masks to satirize those in higher positions.

Now, shall we try making our own mask?

We used traditional Korean paper called hanji to make the masks. First, we tore the hanji into small pieces by hand and attached them to the mask using glue. Then, we decorated them with colored pencils and markers to complete our unique masks.

After finishing our masks, we watched a video of traditional Korean mask dance together. Then, we wore the masks we made and tried dancing the traditional mask dance ourselves.

It was really fun!

Making Korean Traditional Mask – 탈 만들기

4월 17일, 다 함께 탈 만들기를 했습니다.

탈은 한국 전통 가면입니다.

전통적으로 탈에는 신비한 기운이 깃들어 있다고 믿어서 다양한 목적으로 탈을 써 왔습니다. 특히 가장 잘 알려진 것은 탈춤인데요, 탈을 쓰고 노래를 부르고 춤을 추면서 즐기는 활동입니다. 탈춤을 추면서 나쁜 기운을 물리치고 좋은 기운을 받아들여 복을 빌고, 함께 신나게 어우러지면서 전통 사회의 공동체주의를 다질 수 있는 기회가 되기도 했죠.

또 한편으로 사람들이 모인 자리에서 양반층이나 사회를 익살스럽게 풍자하는 연극 공연으로서의 탈춤도 있었습니다.

탈의 종류는 다양합니다. 양반탈, 각시탈 등이 유명한데 그중 오늘은 양반탈에 채색을 하면서 우리만의 탈을 만들어 봤습니다.

누구나 할 수 있는 쉬운 탈 디자인 방법은 역시 채색이죠.

각자 자신만의 아이디어와 미적 취향을 담아서 탈을 만듭니다.

전통 양반탈로 그려도 좋고, 광대처럼 웃긴 탈도 좋으며, 공포 영화에서 나올 법한 무시무시한 탈도 좋습니다. 어떻게 색을 입힐지는 여러분의 자유!

각자 완성된 탈을 쓰고 멋지게 폼을 잡아 봐요.

On April 17, we made traditional Korean masks together.

A tal is a traditional Korean mask.

Traditionally, people believed that masks were imbued with mystical energy, so they were used for various purposes. The most well-known use is talchum (mask dance), where people wear masks, sing, and dance together. Through talchum, people would drive away bad energy, welcome good fortune, and strengthen a sense of community in traditional society by enjoying the performance together.

There were also mask dance performances that humorously satirized the upper class (yangban) and society in front of an audience.

There are many different types of masks, such as yangban masks and gaksi (bride) masks. Today, we colored yangban masks and created our own unique designs.

The easiest way for anyone to design a mask is, of course, through coloring.

Each person creates a mask that reflects their own ideas and aesthetic taste.

You can paint a traditional yangban mask, a funny clown-like mask, or even a spooky mask that looks like it came out of a horror movie. How you color it is completely up to you!

Once finished, try putting on your mask and striking a pose.

GANGNAM TOUR – 강남 투어

어제 학생들하고 같이 강남 투어를 진행했습니다!

먼저 강남역 5번 출구를 지나, 7번 출구 주변에 있는 알라딘 중고서점에 들렀어요.

책 뿐만 아니라 K-pop 앨범과 여러 문구류도 구경하며 즐거운 시간을 보냈어요.

한국어 읽기를 연습할 책도 찾았습니다!

다음에는 10번 출구 방향으로 이동해 미니소를 방문했습니다.

이곳에서는 여러가지 캐릭터 상품들을 만나볼 수 있었는데요,
귀엽운 물건들이 많아 모두가 즐겁게 구경할 수 있었습니다.

가족을 위한 선물도 샀어요 😊

다음으로 강남 먹자골목을 지났습니다.
골목을 지나는 동안 아트박스, 설빙, 그리고 다양한 식당들을 살펴봤습니다.

마지막으로 강남스타일 포토존에서 단체 사진을 찍고, 마무리했습니다!
이렇게 멋진 추억을 또 만들었네요 😆

Yesterday, I went on a Gangnam tour with my students!

First, we passed Exit 5 of Gangnam Station and stopped by the Aladin used bookstore near Exit 7.

We had a great time looking at not only books, but also K-pop albums and various stationery items.

We also found some books to practice reading Korean!

Next, we moved toward Exit 10 and visited MINISO.

There, we could see many different character goods.
There were lots of cute items, so everyone enjoyed looking around.

We also bought some gifts for our families 😊

After that, we walked through the Gangnam food street.
While walking, we looked at places like Artbox, Sulbing, and many restaurants.

Finally, we took a group photo at the Gangnam Style photo zone and finished our tour!

We made another wonderful memory 😆

This Gangnam tour ended very nicely.

Haedong Yonggungsa – 해동용궁사

안녕하세요~ 오늘은 부산 기장에 위치함 해동용궁사에 다녀왔어요!

해동용궁사는 바다 바로 옆에 위치한 아름다운 절인데요

12지신상 앞에서 사진도 찰칵! 자신의 띠가 무엇인지 알아 보는 시간도 가졌었답니다.

한번 불상에 인사도 드려 보고

날씨가 좋아서 경치를 넋 놓고 보게 됐었어요. 멀어서 힘들었지만 정말 좋은 시간 보냈습니다.

Hello~ Today, I visited Haedong Yonggungsa Temple in Gijang, Busan!

Haedong Yonggungsa is a beautiful temple located right by the sea.

I even took a photo in front of the twelve zodiac statues and spent some time figuring out which zodiac sign I am.

I also paid my respects to the Buddha.

The weather was so nice that I found myself completely absorbed in the scenery. It was a bit far and tiring to get there, but I had a really great time.

GANGNAM TOUR – 강남 투어

어제 학생들과 함께 에너지 넘치는 강남 투어를 즐기고 왔습니다!

먼저 강남역 5번 출구를 지나, 7번 출구 인근에 있는 알라딘 중고서점에 들렀어요.

다양한 책들이 가득해 어떤 책들이 있는지 둘러보는 재미가 정말 좋았습니다.

책뿐만 아니라 K-pop 앨범과 여러 문구류도 구경하며 여유로운 시간을 보냈어요!

이후에는 10번 출구 방향으로 이동해 미니소를 방문했습니다.

이곳에서는 인형을 비롯해 여러 캐릭터 상품들을 만나볼 수 있었는데요,

귀엽고 아기자기한 물건들이 많아 모두가 즐겁게 구경할 수 있었습니다.

그다음에는 강남 먹자골목을 지나며 거리도 둘러봤습니다.
이동하는 동안 아트박스, 설빙, 그리고 다양한 식당들을 살펴보며 강남의 분위기를 느낄 수 있었어요.

마지막으로 강남스타일 포토존에서 단체 사진을 찍으며 투어를 마무리했습니다!
함께 사진을 남기며 또 하나의 즐거운 추억을 만들었네요 😄

이렇게 이번 강남 투어도 알차게 마무리되었습니다.
다음 투어가 벌써부터 기대됩니다!

There, we could find everything from plush toys to a wide range of character goods.

There were lots of cute and charming items, so everyone had a great time looking around.

Next, we walked through the Gangnam food alley and explored the streets.
On the way, we checked out places like Artbox, Sulbing, and many different restaurants, which gave us a good feel for the atmosphere of Gangnam.

Finally, we wrapped up the tour by taking a group photo at the Gangnam Style photo zone!
We made another happy memory together while taking pictures 😄

That’s how we wrapped up today’s Gangnam tour in a fulfilling way.
I’m already looking forward to the next one!

[Job Club] 잡클럽

안녕하세요
오늘은 한국에서 취업을 준비하는 학생들을 위한 ‘잡클럽(Job Club)’ 액티비티가 있었습니다.

외국인 학생들이 한국에서 취업을 하려면 비자 문제나 언어 장벽 등 여러 어려움을 겪을 수 밖에 없는데요, 바로 잡클럽은 이러한 어려움들을 함께 도와줄 수 있는 프로그램이에요.

이번 액티비티에는 한 명의 학생이 참여했습니다.
1교시에는 다양한 구직 사이트를 살펴보고 실제로 지원할 수 있는 회사와 직무를 찾아보는 시간을 가졌어요. 완전히 마음에 드는 일자리를 찾지는 못했지만, 외국인이 한국에서 할 수 있는 일의 종류와 취업을 위해 필요한 조건들을 알아볼 수 있어 의미 있는 시간이었습니다.

이어진 2교시에는 이력서를 직접 작성해 보고, 잘 작성된 자기소개서를 함께 읽어보며 효과적인 작성 방법에 대해 배웠습니다. 처음에는 어렵게 느껴질 수 있지만, 차근차근 연습하면서 잡클럽과 함께 준비해 나간다면 나만의 자기소개서를 작성하는 것이 그리 어렵지 않을 거에요.

한국에서 취업을 준비하고 있다면, 잡클럽과 함께 시작해 보시는 건 어떨까요? 언제나 여러분을 응원하며 기다리고 있겠습니다.

Today, I’d like to share about a “Job Club” activity designed for students preparing to find a job in Korea.

As foreign students get ready to work in Korea, they often face various challenges such as visa issues and language barriers. Job Club is a program that helps them navigate these difficulties and find solutions step by step.

In this session, one student participated.
During the first class, we explored various job search websites and looked for companies and positions the student could realistically apply for. Although they didn’t find a job that perfectly matched their preferences, it was still a meaningful experience as they were able to learn about the types of jobs available to foreigners in Korea and what qualifications are needed.

In the second class, the student practiced writing a resume and reviewed well-written personal statements to learn effective writing strategies. It may feel a bit challenging at first, but with consistent practice and guidance from Job Club, creating a strong personal statement becomes much more achievable.

K-POP DANCE – KiiiKiii – 404 (New Era)

안녕하세요!

금요일에 우리는 K-POP 안무를 배우는 특별한 액티비티를 했어요.
이번에 배운 안무는 요즘 인기 있는 그룹 ‘KiiiKiii’의 ‘404 (New Era)’였어요!

안무를 배우기 전에 스트레칭으로 굳은 몸을 풀었어요.
다치지 않기 위해 스트레칭을 잘 해줘야 해요.

이제 본격적으로 안무를 배워 볼까요?

우리는 선생님을 따라 한 동작씩 차근차근 배워 나갔어요.
노래가 빨라서 어렵기도 했지만, 모두 집중해서 열심히 따라 했어요.
연습할수록 점점 더 실력이 늘고 자신감도 생겼어요!

이제 우리 친구들의 모습을 영상으로 한 번 볼까요?

정말 멋지지 않나요? 열정이 정말 대단해요!

연습을 마친 후에는 선생님과 함께 기념사진도 찍고
수업을 마무리했어요.

이번 경험이 한국에서의 즐거운 추억으로 오래 기억에 남을 것 같아요!

Last Friday, we had a special activity where we learned a K-POP dance routine.
The choreography we learned was ‘404 (New Era)’ by the popular group ‘KiiiKiii’!

Before we started, we warmed up with some stretching to loosen our stiff muscles.
Stretching is important to prevent injuries!

Now, shall we get into the choreography?

We followed the instructor step by step, learning each movement carefully.
The song was quite fast and challenging, but everyone stayed focused and did their best to keep up.
With practice, we gradually improved and became more confident.

Shall we take a look at our students in action?
Aren’t they amazing? Their passion is truly impressive!

After all the practice, we took a commemorative photo with the instructor
and wrapped up the class.

This experience will remain a wonderful memory of their time in Korea for a long time!

K-POP DANCE-KiiKii-404

봄의 풍경을 만끽하면서 우리는 신나는 K-POP을 배우면서 즐거운 시간을 보냈어요.

간단한 몸풀기 후에 본격적으로 노래의 주요 안무들을 배우기 시작했어요.

Hey there! The first Friday of April, we had a blast learning some awesome K-POP moves.

After a quick warm-up, they dove right into mastering the main choreography of the song.

이 노래는 특히 손가락의 움직임이 중요해서 손가락을 이용한 댄스를 많이 배웠어요!

This song was all about those finger moves, so they learned a ton of dance steps using their fingers!

신나는 음악에 맞춰 마지막으로 훌륭하게 배운 내용을 연습했어요.

K-POP DANCE 클래스는 언제나 그렇듯 즐거운 웃음소리와 기념 촬영으로 마무리 되었습니다!

They practiced all the awesome moves they learned, grooving to the upbeat music.
