4월 17일, 렉시스 코리아에서 탈 만들기를 했습니다.
탈은 한국 전통 가면입니다.
전통적으로 탈에는 신비한 기운이 깃들어 있다고 믿어서 다양한 목적으로 탈을 써 왔습니다. 특히 가장 잘 알려진 것은 탈춤인데요, 탈을 쓰고 노래를 부르고 춤을 추면서 즐기는 활동입니다. 탈춤을 추면서 나쁜 기운을 물리치고 좋은 기운을 받아들여 복을 빌고, 함께 신나게 어우러지면서 전통 사회의 공동체주의를 다질 수 있는 기회가 되기도 했죠.
또 한편으로 사람들이 모인 자리에서 양반층이나 사회를 익살스럽게 풍자하는 연극 공연으로서의 탈춤도 있었습니다.
탈의 종류는 다양합니다. 양반탈, 각시탈 등이 유명한데 그중 오늘은 양반탈에 채색을 하면서 우리만의 탈을 만들어 봤습니다.
누구나 할 수 있는 쉬운 탈 디자인 방법은 역시 채색이죠.
각자 자신만의 아이디어와 미적 취향을 담아서 탈을 만듭니다.
전통 양반탈로 그려도 좋고, 광대처럼 웃긴 탈도 좋으며, 공포 영화에서 나올 법한 무시무시한 탈도 좋습니다. 어떻게 색을 입힐지는 여러분의 자유!

On April 17, we made traditional Korean masks at Lexis Korea.
A tal is a traditional Korean mask.
Traditionally, people believed that masks were imbued with mystical energy, so they were used for various purposes. The most well-known use is talchum (mask dance), where people wear masks, sing, and dance together. Through talchum, people would drive away bad energy, welcome good fortune, and strengthen a sense of community in traditional society by enjoying the performance together.
There were also mask dance performances that humorously satirized the upper class (yangban) and society in front of an audience.
There are many different types of masks, such as yangban masks and gaksi (bride) masks. Today, we colored yangban masks and created our own unique designs.
The easiest way for anyone to design a mask is, of course, through coloring.
Each person creates a mask that reflects their own ideas and aesthetic taste.
You can paint a traditional yangban mask, a funny clown-like mask, or even a spooky mask that looks like it came out of a horror movie. How you color it is completely up to you!
Once finished, try putting on your mask and striking a pose.
