안녕하세요! 오늘은 망원시장과 망원한강공원에 다녀왔어요.

우리는 출발하기 전에 시장과 공원에 대해서 먼저 알아봤어요. 망원시장은 젊은 사람들에게 인기 있는 전통시장이에요. 보통 전통시장은 오래되고 지저분한 느낌이 있지만 망원시장은 깨끗하고 정리가 잘 되어 있었어요. 이곳에서는 한국의 전통적인 길거리 음식과 새로운 음식을 모두 즐길 수 있어요. 또, 신선한 과일과 야채도 팔고 반찬 가게도 있어서 동네 한국 사람들도 자주 와요. 외국인들도 쉽게 쇼핑할 수 있도록 외국어 표지판도 있고 상인들도 친절해요.

학원에서 버스를 타고 망원시장에 갔어요. 버스를 처음 타보는 학생도 있어서 재미있는 경험이 되었어요. 안타깝게도 비가 와서 우산을 써야 했지만 아주 많이 오는 비는 아니어서 다행이에요. 내려야 하는 정류장을 놓칠까봐 조마조마 했어요. ‘다음은 망원시장입니다.’ 앗! 여기예요! 우리는 모두 안전하게 시장에 도착했답니다.

일단 시장에 들어가서 무엇이 있나 구경을 했어요. 먹고 싶은 것이 너무너무 많았어요. 떡볶이, 튀김, 전, 떡, 닭강정… 아이고, 이걸 어떻게 다 먹죠?

드디어 먹고 싶은 것을 결정하고 용기를 내서 한국어로 주문을 했어요. “이거 하나 주세요!”

시장 구경은 정말 재미있어요. 살아서 움직이는 게도 보고 드라마에서 보고 꼭 먹어 보고 싶었던 떡볶이도 먹었어요. 저 하얀 과자는 ‘뻥튀기’라고 하는 한국 전통 쌀과자예요. 바삭바삭하고 달콤한 것이 정말 맛있었어요.

마침 망원시장에 취재를 나온 KBS 방송국 팀을 만났어요. 한국에 언제 왔어요, 한국어를 어떻게 이렇게 잘 해요, 좋아하는 한국 음식이 뭐예요… 여러 질문을 하고 우리는 한국어로 대답을 했어요. 우와! 우리가 한국어를 정말 잘 해요!

맛있는 것을 많이 먹고 또 많이 산 후에 망원한강공원으로 이동을 합니다.

비가 와서 조금 불편했지만 씩씩하게 하나! 둘! 셋!!

망원한강공원은 한강공원 중에서 사람이 적고 한적한 곳이에요. 이곳에서는 자전거를 타거나 산책을 하거나 소풍을 즐길 수 있어요. 특히 해가 질 때 가면 아름다운 일몰을 볼 수 있는 곳이어서 데이트를 하는 커플들과 아이들과 함께 나온 가족들을 많이 볼 수 있어요. 우리가 갔던 날은 비가 와서 그런지 사람들이 거의 없었어요. 그래서 정말 조용하고 좋았답니다!

비가 와서 어쩌나 걱정을 했는데 마침 천막이 있는 의자가 있어서 거기에 앉아 맛있는 점심을 즐길 수 있었어요. 자, 무슨 음식을 먹고 있는지 한번 볼까요?

찐 옥수수, 전, 떡, 호도과자, 만두에 떡볶이, 그리고 닭강정까지! 너무 많이 먹어서 숨쉬기가 힘들 정도였어요.

비가 안 왔다면 더 좋았겠지만 그래도 재미있는 시간이었어요. 다음에는 꼭 날씨가 아주 좋은 날 다시 와서 해가 지는 것도 보고 자전거도 타고 ‘서울함’이라는 군함도 볼 거예요.

We visited Changdeokgung Palace. As one of Seoul’s five grand palaces, Changdeokgung is famous for its beautiful gardens and serene atmosphere. Although the weather was cloudy, it wasn’t too hot, which made for a comfortable start to our tour.

Since there weren’t many visitors, we were able to explore the palace at a leisurely pace. The students excitedly wandered through the grounds, recalling scenes from Korean historical dramas they had seen.

In front of the palace, they spotted the stone markers indicating the ranks of royal officials. Inspired by the dramas, they even playfully posed and mimicked the officials in front of the markers. Walking along the royal path, which only the king could use, the students were fascinated to learn how the king and his officials each had different routes through the palace.

Inside the halls, the students shared their thoughts and asked questions with each other and the teachers. They were captivated by the stunning architecture and the intricate details of the buildings, especially the vibrant dancheong (traditional multicolored paintwork), which held their attention for quite some time.

We also took time to discuss how Korean culture compares to the cultures of their own countries, sparking interesting conversations. Seeing many visitors dressed in hanbok inspired the students, and they promised themselves they would try wearing one on their next visit.

The palace turned out to be larger than expected, so we took a short break in the middle of our tour. During this time, the students shared their impressions in Korean and discussed which palace they might want to visit next.

We ended the day by returning to the spot where we started and taking a group photo to wrap up the visit. Although we couldn’t see Changdeokgung’s highlight, the Secret Garden, due to not having a reservation, everyone promised they would return to explore it next time.

오늘은 학생들과 함께 창덕궁을 다녀왔어요. 창덕궁은 서울의 5대 궁궐 중 하나로, 아름다운 정원과 고즈넉한 분위기가 인상적인 곳이에요. 날씨는 흐렸지만 덥지 않아서 오히려 쾌적하게 견학을 시작할 수 있었답니다.

관람객이 많지 않아 한적하고 편안하게 둘러볼 수 있었어요. 학생들은 한국 사극 드라마에서 봤던 장면들을 떠올리며 궁궐 곳곳을 흥미롭게 구경하기 시작했답니다.

궐 앞에 놓인 신하들의 품계 비석을 보며, 학생들은 드라마 속 장면을 떠올리며 그 앞에서 재미있게 따라 해보기도 했어요.

왕만이 걸을 수 있었던 어도를 따라 걸으며, 학생들은 신하와 왕이 각기 다른 길을 걸었다는 역사적 사실에 흥미로워했어요.

전각 내부를 둘러보며 학생들은 서로 이야기를 나누기도 했어요.

전각의 아름다움에 매료된 학생들은 선생님들께 궁금한 점을 폭풍처럼 쏟아내며 활발하게 소통했어요.

무엇보다도 화려한 단청의 아름다움에 매료되어, 학생들은 한참 동안 눈을 떼지 못했어요.

또한 한국 문화와 각자의 나라 문화가 어떻게 다른지에 대해서도 서로 이야기하며 소통하는 시간을 가졌어요.

한복을 입고 온 관광객들이 많아서, 학생들은 다음에 올 땐 꼭 한복을 입어보고 싶다고 이야기했어요.

생각보다 궁궐이 넓어서 중간에 잠시 쉬어가는 시간을 가졌어요. 쉬는 동안 학생들은 궁궐에 대한 느낌을 한국어로 나누며, 다음엔 어떤 궁궐을 방문해볼지 이야기꽃을 피웠답니다.

마지막으로 처음 구경했던 장소로 돌아가 단체 사진을 찍으며 오늘의 견학을 마무리했어요. 아쉽게도 예약을 하지 못해 창덕궁의 하이라이트인 후원은 보지 못했지만, 다음엔 꼭 다시 방문하자며 다짐했답니다.

Job Club is a FREE special session designed to support students who want to work in Korea. For foreigners, finding a job here can be challenging—there are issues like visas, language barriers, and cultural differences. Through Job Club, students get guidance and practical help to overcome these obstacles step by step.

This week, we had two students join the session. One of them came to Korea on a Working Holiday visa with the goal of finding a job here. The other works at a recruitment company and was curious about what Lexis’s Job Club offers.

Together, we explored several job search websites and looked into what kinds of companies and positions are available. The student on a Working Holiday visa had a clear idea of what kind of work they wanted, and during the session they actually found opportunities that matched their interests. It was an exciting moment for everyone!

We also practiced writing resumes and read through examples of well-written cover letters to learn how to structure them effectively. On top of that, we discussed the top 10 most common interview questions and practiced answering them. It felt almost like a real interview—nervous smiles and all—but both students did an excellent job.

Traveling abroad is always exciting, but living and working in a new country brings real challenges. The very first step is finding a company that is willing to hire you. 잡 클럽(Job Club)은 한국에서 일을 하고자 하는 학생들에게 도움을 주기 위한 수업이에요. 외국인이 한국에서 일하기 위해서는 비자, 언어 등 여러 문제가 있지만 잡클럽을 통해서 도움을 받으면서 해결해 나갈 수 있어요.

이번주에 잡클럽 수업을 들은 학생은 두 명이었어요. 한 학생은 한국에서 취직하려고 워킹홀리데이 비자를 받아서 오신 분이고, 다른 학생은 리크루트 회사에서 일하시는 분이어서 우리 렉시스의 잡클럽에 관심이 많으셨대요.

일자리를 검색할 수 있는 여러 사이트들을 둘러보고 실제로 어떤 회사에서 어떤 일을 할 수 있는지 관심이 있는 회사와 일의 종류를 검색해 봤어요. 워킹홀리데이를 온 학생은 자신이 하고 싶은 일이 확실했는데 자신이 진짜 원하는 회사와 업무를 찾을 수 있었어요! 그래서 우리 모두 신이 났답니다.

직접 이력서도 써 보고, 잘 씌여진 자기소개서를 읽으면서 어떻게 써야 하는지도 배웠어요. 또 면접 시험에서 가장 많이 물어보는 질문 10가지에 대해 나는 어떻게 대답하면 좋을까를 생각해보고 대답하는 기회도 있었어요. 진짜 면접 시험을 보는 것처럼 긴장도 되었지만 두 학생 모두 훌륭하게 대답을 잘 해 주었어요.

외국을 여행하는 것은 아주 신나는 일이에요. 하지만 일을 하면서 현지인으로 살게 되면 어려운 점이 많이 있어요. 일을 할 수 있는 회사를 찾는 것이 가장 처음으로 해결해야 할 숙제겠지요. 렉시스에 오시면 저희가 도와드릴 수 있어요. 항상 여러분을 기다리고 있을게요.
