안녕하세요. 오늘은 국회의사당에 다녀왔어요.
한국은 입법권, 사법권, 행정권이 서로 견제하고 협력하는 3권 분립 국가이죠. 국회의사당은 법을 만드는 입법의 중심지예요.
정문에 도착하자마자 기분 좋게 기념사진부터 찰칵! 녹색 둥근 지붕은 구리로 만들어졌고, 건물 둘레에는 기둥이 24개가 있는데 1년 24절기를 의미한대요. 바로 1년 내내 국민을 위해 열심히 일하겠다는 국회의원들의 다짐을 상징한다고 해요.
가장 먼저 발걸음을 옮긴 곳은 전통 한옥으로 지어진 사랑재였어요. 외국 귀빈을 맞이하거나 공연이 열리기도 하고, 주말에는 예식장으로도 쓰이는 공간이라고 해요. 알록달록한 단청을 칠하지 않은 자연 그대로의 단아한 모습이 참 멋스러웠습니다.
멋진 한옥을 배경으로 사진도 찍고 주변을 구경하기도 했어요. 그런데 오늘 날씨가 정말 더워도 너~무 더웠는데요! 그래서 땀을 식히려 사랑재 바로 옆에 있는 강변서재로 들어갔습니다.
뷰가 정말 환상적인 북카페였어요. 살짝 멋쩍지만 한국어로 된 책을 한 권 꺼내 들고 ‘읽는 척’ 인증샷도 찍어보았습니다. 옥상에는 전망 탁 트인 옥탑 카페가 있고, 서재 앞에는 예쁜 정원도 꾸며져 있더라고요. 바람이 솔솔 부는 시원한 가을이 오면 꼭 다시 오고 싶은 공간이었어요.
잠시 땀을 식힌 뒤, 드디어 본회의장으로 향했습니다. 아무래도 국가 주요 기관이다 보니 본인 확인부터 입장에 이르기까지 절차가 제법 까다로웠어요. 우리를 포함해서 모두 150명이나 되는 인원이 다 함께 차례를 기다려 움직였습니다.
2층 방청석에 앉아 국회의 역사를 비롯해 국회 상징, 의장석, 발언대, 속기사석 등 주요 시설에 대한 설명을 들었어요. TV로만 보던 장소에 직접 앉아있으니 기분이 새롭더라고요!
마지막 코스로 국회 참관 기념품을 받으러 국회박물관으로 이동했습니다. 본회의장에서 박물관까지 거리가 꽤 멀어서 걸어갔으면 큰일 날 뻔했는데, 다행히 셔틀버스를 운행하더라고요! 셔틀을 탄 건 정말 신의 한 수였습니다.
박물관에서 알찬 기념품도 챙기고 마지막 기념사진까지 찰칵 찍으며 오늘의 알찬 국회 참관을 마무리했습니다.
날씨는 많이 덥고 이동도 많았지만, 푸른 하늘에 하얀 뭉게구름이 너무나 예쁜 날씨였고, 한국의 입법 기관을 눈으로 직접 확인하고 예쁜 풍경까지 담아갈 수 있어 정말 뜻깊은 하루였습니다! 날씨가 선선해지면 강변서재 정원에 꼭 다시 놀러 가야겠어요. 같이 가실래요?
Hello. Today, we visited the National Assembly Building.
Korea is a country with a separation of powers where the legislative, judicial, and executive branches balance and cooperate with one another. The National Assembly Building is the center of legislation, where laws are made.
As soon as we arrived at the main gate, we took a proof shot with a big smile. The green dome roof is made of copper, and the 24 pillars surrounding the building represent the 24 solar terms of the year. It symbolizes the pledge of the National Assembly members to work hard for the public all year round.
The first place we headed to was Sarangjae, a building constructed in the traditional Hanok style. It is used to welcome foreign dignitaries, host performances, and even serve as a wedding venue on weekends. The simple and elegant appearance, untouched by colorful Dancheong paint, was truly charming.
We took photos with the wonderful Hanok in the background and explored the surrounding area. However, the weather today was exceedingly hot. To cool off, we went into Gangbyeon Seojae, located right next to Sarangjae.
It was a book cafe with a fantastic view. Feeling a bit shy, we picked up books written in Korean and posed as if we were reading it for a picture. There was an open-roof cafe on the top floor with a sweeping view, and a lovely garden was set up in front of the study. It was a space we would definitely love to visit again when the cool autumn breeze starts to blow.
After cooling off for a bit, we finally headed to the Main Chamber. As expected from a major state institution, the procedures from identity verification to entry were quite strict. A group of 150 people, including us, waited in line and moved together.
Sitting in the second-floor gallery, we listened to explanations about the history of the National Assembly and its key features, such as the assembly symbol, the Speaker’s chair, the podium, and the stenographer’s seat. Sitting in the very place we had only seen on TV gave me a fresh perspective.
For the final stop, we moved to the National Assembly Museum to receive a souvenir for visiting. The distance from the Main Chamber to the museum was quite far, so it would have been tough to walk, but fortunately, they were running a shuttle bus. Taking the shuttle was an absolute lifesaver.
After picking up a nice souvenir at the museum and taking one last photo, we wrapped up today’s meaningful visit.
Although it was very hot and involved a lot of moving around, the blue sky with white fluffy clouds was so beautiful, and it was a deeply meaningful day being able to see Korea’s legislative body in person and capture the wonderful scenery. When the weather gets cooler, we definitely want to visit the garden at Gangbyeon Seojae again. Would you like to come with us?
